Not much to report, just a beautiful Easter day and a drive up the coast. From Buellton I drove up through Foxen Canyon, which seemed to be the major wine trail. The Santa Ynez valley is one of those amazing California vistas - big mountains creating a backdrop for rolling hills and flat, fertile valleys teeming with grapes, strawberries, artichokes and the occasional pasture with cattle or sheep.

All the wineries were closed when I passed through, couldn't tell if it was because it was too early on Sunday, or because it's Easter. No matter, I didn't have time to stop. But next time I will plan to make a weekend of it.

After rejoining the 101 in Santa Maria, I followed it up to San Luis Obispo and then cut over to Hwy 1, the Pacific Coast Highway. It was a picture-perfect day. Arrived in San Francisco around 6, and went to my sister Irene's house.
